The court has mandated that the bank accounts of Antony Oluoch, a lawyer and aspiring MP for Mathare, along with former IEBC commissioner Thomas Letangule, remain frozen for 30 days.

This decision is pending further orders from the employment and labor relations court regarding the case involving former employees of Telecom Kenya. The High Court directed that these ex-employees return to the employment and labor relations court to address their claims against Oluoch, Letangule, and two other individuals for allegedly withholding funds that were awarded to them by Telecom Kenya.

Justice Grace Nzioka emphasized the importance of continuing the case in the original court, where it began in 2007, stating that it is essential for the former employees to seek clarity on how their awarded funds were managed. The case is scheduled for mention on the 9th, where the presiding judge will decide the next steps.

The former Telecom Kenya employees have accused their lawyers—Oluoch, Letangule, Silvia Malemba Gitonga, and auctioneer Muganda Wasilwa—of improperly handling the disbursement of Sh1.3 billion awarded to them following their retrenchment in 2006. They are seeking to have the defendants’ accounts frozen to prevent any withdrawal or transfer of funds while the case is being resolved.

The plaintiffs allege that the lawyers failed to remit the awarded money despite a consent agreement made on December 15, 2015, and claim that the disbursement process was fraught with inconsistencies and a lack of transparency regarding the settlement amount. They are requesting the court to compel the lawyers to provide all relevant documents, receipts, and records related to the disbursement of the funds.
