Lawyer Danstan Omari has announced his intention to run for the Nairobi senatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 elections. He believes that Nairobi County requires strong leadership and considers himself a capable candidate for the role.

In a video shared with the Star, Omari highlighted the political landscape of Nairobi, noting the shifts in leadership since the new constitution was adopted in 2013.

He pointed out that the city has seen a pattern of governors and senators changing roles over the years, and he envisions a future where he could succeed Edwin Sifuna as senator, paving the way for his own bid for the governorship in 2032.

Omari emphasized the importance of Nairobi as a major African city and the residence of the President, asserting that it deserves a leader who is determined, focused, and well-regarded.

He pledged to advocate for the effective use of funds allocated for development in the city if elected. Drawing on his extensive legal experience, which includes defending various community members such as hawkers and boda boda operators, he expressed his commitment to being a voice for the underrepresented in the Senate.

Omari also shared his journey from starting his career in Nyamira to becoming an internationally recognized figure in Nairobi. He affirmed that whether he runs as an independent candidate or under a political party, he will promote his policies and vision as Danstan Omari, aiming to make a significant impact in the political arena.
