Afya Sacco’s Patric Muithi Muthangya: The Man Behind the Sh 55 Million Fraud

Patric Muithi Muthangya, a staff member of Afya Sacco, has been formally charged with involvement in a fraudulent scheme amounting to Sh 55,649,000.

The charges allege that between December 8, 2016, and November 1, 2021, at an undisclosed location within Kenya, Muthangya conspired with others to commit theft from Afya Sacco Society Limited.

Additionally, he faces accusations of directly stealing Sh 55 million from the organization during the same timeframe and in the same locations.

Following his arraignment, Muthangya was granted bail set at Sh 3 million, which can be secured through a surety or a cash bail of Sh 1, along with two contact persons.

The case is scheduled for mention on May 12, 2025, as the legal proceedings continue.
