The family of Hussein Abdirahman Mohamed, who has been missing since July 8, 2025, has urgently approached the court, requesting that the police produce him, whether he is alive or deceased.
During a press conference held at the Milimani Law Court, the family emphasized Hussein’s role as a respected public servant, serving as an assistant County Commissioner in Wajir County and managing the Wajir Huduma Center at the time of his disappearance.
Their lawyer, Danstan Omari, argued that unless the court recognizes the urgency of the situation and orders Hussein’s appearance, his fundamental rights, including freedom of movement and the right to associate with others, will continue to be violated in an illegal and unjust manner. Omari noted that a police report was filed on July 10, 2025, in an effort to locate Hussein, but no progress has been made, leaving his whereabouts unknown.
He highlighted that Hussein was last seen accompanying the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Public Service during a visit to Wajir County shortly before he vanished.
The family’s concerns about his sudden disappearance, which occurred without any communication to friends or family, have raised serious questions that only the Attorney General and the Inspector General of Police can address.
They are urging the court to instruct the Inspector General of Police to present Hussein before the court by July 14, 2025, to ensure adherence to the rule of law, and they are seeking for the court to classify this matter as extremely urgent. The case is currently being heard in the High Court of Kenya, located in the Nairobi Milimani criminal division.
