Kenyans Victimized: Man Charged in Court for Visa Fraud Scheme

David Mwiti Kunyang’a appeared before Magistrate Lucas Onyina, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

The court heard that between December 16, 2024, and May 12, 2025, in Nairobi County, he allegedly defrauded Faith Kinya Simon of Kenya Shillings 684,000 by falsely claiming he could secure travel visas to Canada for twelve of her clients, fully aware that this was untrue.

Additionally, he faced a second charge of obtaining money under false pretenses for receiving Sh 294,500 from the same individual under similar deceptive claims.

Furthermore, he was charged with acquiring proceeds of crime, with an alternative count of possessing such proceeds in violation of the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

The accused was granted bail set at Sh 400,000, which included a cash component of Sh 200,000 and the requirement to provide two contact persons.
