An American citizen, Sergio Patrick Antonucci, was arraigned on Monday at the Milimani Law Court, facing charges of fraudulently acquiring Ksh 163 million by misrepresenting his ability to supply gold.

During the proceedings before Magistrate Susan Shitubi, Antonucci entered a plea of not guilty to two separate charges and was subsequently granted bail set at ten million, contingent upon the provision of one surety.

The prosecution did not contest the bail arrangement, allowing Antonucci’s legal team, led by attorney Conrad Maloba, to accept the court’s conditions without objection.

The primary allegation against him states that between March 31 and May 30, 2024, in Nairobi County, he, along with unidentified accomplices, allegedly conspired to commit a felony by deceitfully claiming he could facilitate the sale of 2,028 kilograms of gold to Tanner Caldwell Cook, knowing this assertion to be untrue.

The case is scheduled for a mention on January 23, 2025.
